Lawrence William Prokey was born April 29, 1923 in Wolfeboro, Carroll County, New Hampshire to Larie Pedro Prokey a Russian immigrant and Ethel Mae Banfill. Larry died March 29, 1999 in New Bern, Craven Co., NC Larry joined the Marine Corp in Springfield, Massachusetts and obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant. Larry was a watch repairman, mechanical instrument repairman. Designed and built electric ship watches to specification. Forced and fabricated small parts. Assembled instruments. Fabricated and assembled mill3second timers and aircraft engine tachometers and precision tools. While in North Carolina on leave Larry's car broke down in Arapahoe, Pamlico County, NC. He went to a garage and met my Great Grandfather Milo Banks. While Milo was fixing Larry's car he met and fell in love with Milo's daughter, my Grandmother, Mary Christine Banks. Mary & Larry married November 4, 1944. They went on to have 3 children: Mary Diane Prokey Apr 20, 1946-Oct 20, 1964 Lawrence William Prokey, Jr May 31, 1948-Feb 10, 2003 Deborah Hilda Prokey Apr 30, 1952 -May 5, 2006 Larry worked as a watch repairman and watch maker as well as fixing and repairing all types of jewelry for well over 50 years.
