Jessie Clyde Carver Jr was born May 6, 1923 in Spring Hill, Wilson Co., NC to Cussie May Boyette and Jessie Clyde Carver. He has 3 sisters, Lessie, Clyde & Doris and a brother Paul. Jessie married Doria Mae Ballance and they had one son George R. Carver. Jessie enlisted in the US Army on October 7, 1943 at Fort Bragg, NC to serve during World War II. He was wounded by a shot to the head in the battle at Saint Lo, France and died on July 28, 1944. Jessie had only been overseas for six weeks.
